ContributeSo you fish, but can you write?

We are always looking for writers as accurate with a pen as they are with their rods. Our subscription may be free, but our content will never allude to it.

Blood Knot Magazine® would not be possible if it weren’t for those whose passion for fly fishing fuels them to write about their experiences and values. Our contributors aren’t paid, and they vary in age and background, but they all have an ability to tell a great story.

We’re not interested in many “How To’s”—unless you have an articulate and accurate story in you about something you’ve revolutionized, those articles are generally no-goes. Neither are we interested in stories that poeticize the sport or otherwise read like a descriptive excerpt from Gone With the Wind (not to take anything away from the novel, it’s actually one of my favorite books).

Our target audience is drawn towards writing that’s always close-to-the-bone. That’s not to say write in a manner that would upset mothers or the old school (unless it’s relevant to your story), but write with the hardcore anglers and the next generation in mind, and always in a fashion that offends anyone using bait. …Just kidding. Be direct. Be bold. Take your time and submit a piece you’re proud of.

When possible, include photographs with your story, and please include the name of the shot’s location in the picture’s file name. We also accept illustrations and entertaining cartoons, relevant graphic designs and artwork.

Send questions, concerns and “what if’s” to: Info@Bloodknot.net
