Submissions
Scribes, penners, and paragraphists:
If you’re interested in contributing to the next issue of Blood Knot, the submission deadline for the “Off the Grid Issue” is October 16, 2011. The theme includes fishing in those exotic, hard-to-reach, remote areas. Informative articles and opinion pieces are welcome, and should be between 200 and 900 words in length.
We’re not interested in “How To’s”—unless you’ve revolutionized something, those articles are generally no-goes. Neither are we interested in stories that poeticize the sport or otherwise read like descriptive excerpts from Gone With the Wind (not to take anything away from the novel, it’s actually one of my favorite books).
Our target audience is drawn towards writing that’s always close-to-the-bone. That’s not to say write in a manner that would upset mothers or the old school (unless it’s relevant or an opinion), but write with the hardcore and next generation in mind, and always in a fashion that offends anyone using bait. …Just kidding. Be direct. Be bold. Take your time and submit a piece you’re proud of.
Blood Knot Magazine® wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for those whose passion for fly fishing fuels them to write about their experiences and values. Our contributors aren’t paid, and they vary in age and background, but they all have an ability to tell a great story.
Send questions, concerns and “what if’s” to: Info@Bloodknot.net
And please send stories and accompanying attachments to: Contribute@Bloodknot.net
*Please note that we reserve the right to edit submissions for grammar and flow, and though we try, we may not always notify you of those changes. If you would like final approval, please include that request with your submission.
